City Councilmember Rose Herrera Endorses Sam Liccardo for Mayor
San José, CA – Two-term City Councilmember Rose Herrera announced today that she is endorsing former prosecutor and current City Councilmember Sam Liccardo for Mayor of San José.
“Rose has been a strong and effective leader for fiscal reform and economic development on the city council and I’ve been proud to work with her on a number of issues over the years. I’m thankful for her support and look forward to working with her in the years to come to make our city safer through smarter government,” said Liccardo.
“For me, it has always been about doing what is best for San José,” said Councilmember Rose Herrera, “and in November, Sam Liccardo is the better choice for Mayor. He’ll protect San José’s historic fiscal reforms, push for technology to provide more services and put public interest above special interests.”
Herrera is the latest key endorsement for Liccardo including Mayor Chuck Reed, Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen, three former Mayors, six former Vice Mayors of San José and dozens of other elected officials.
In addition to Herrera, Liccardo has been endorsed by Reed, Nguyen, former Mayors Susan Hammer, Tom McEnery and Ron James, current Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen, former Vice Mayors Blanca Alvarado, Judy Chirco, Pat Dando, Frank Fiscalini, Trixie Johnson and Shirley Lewis and dozens of other current and former elected officials.
Liccardo has also garnered support from the Mercury News and such leading civic groups as the Sierra Club, the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors, the San José Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clara County Democratic Club and the League of Conservation Voters.
